Sometimes listening to Gretchen Helfrich's Odyssey makes my eyes glaze over, but yesterday she aired a particularly interesting conversation about the The State of Architecture in America. Her guests were Sarah Goldhagen of Harvard's Design School and Joan Ockman of Columbia University. They suggested that only 5% of our environment was built using an architect. If true, that explains a lot. . . Also, check out Discursive Recursions for a nice discussion about the tensions between zoning regulations and human rights ordinances in Urbana.
